FAE Dinner

Last year Hal and I hosted a group that he works with for dinner and we had such a great time that we extended the offer this year.  I began to fret over what to serve, etc until the group requested basically the same menu we had the previous year...simple!  We had a few new people join us this year and they were as delightful as could be.  It was 102 outside and had been for several days.  I don't know how they went outside for as long as they did.  I suggested they move the training to October.  A delightful evening...

Anna's first visit to GP & GM's house

Anna is not allowed to go out in public as of yet, but she can visit family.  Julie came up to help K&E for a few days (I think she really wanted to have some one on one time w/Anna).  We had the usual cook out, steak and salmon and watched Anna.  K&E have the feeding and diaper changing routine down.  They are such good parents.  I realized that I didn't get a pic of Julie while she was here.  But I did get several of
Anna...go figure...sorry Aunt JuJu.

Elysse has always been very photogenic, but I think motherhood fits her very well and she just glows.
Keith has taken to fatherhood with such passion.  Anna for sure is daddy's little girl and as a daughter, there is nothing better.

Melissa was here in town working and Chris took the opportunity to come to town and visit during the July 4th weekend.  Keith and Elysse let us come over to see Anna for the evening.

We stayed way too late but we had such a wonderful evening.  Thank you K&E.

We have been anxiously waiting to meet our new granddaughter Anna Michelle Denton.  Arriving Friday June 24, 2011 at 9:40 am, 6 lbs 1 oz and 20 in.

Welcome Home Mauricio

We have had the joy of praying for and supporting Mauricio the last few years during his oversea duties.  Once in Iraq and the most recent in Afghanistan.  Wednesday before last he returned home for good!  He will be stationed in Colorado once he goes through his debriefing and some well needed and deserved R&R.  There was such a sense of relieve among all who were there to see his smile.  Bret, Aline and Gary holding the welcome home sign.
Big long hugs from mom who has been an incredible witness to her faith and praying non stop for the last few years.

And dad gets hugs as well.
dad, Mauricio and mom

Mauricio, we are all so very thankful for you and the man that you have become.

Date Night at the Arboretum

The Arboretum is having outdoor concerts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this year.  The walk through some of the gardens to get to the concert area is just beautiful.  The setting for the concert is very nice as well.  The back drop is White Rock Lake and the setting of the sun.

Hal and I have been on a search for low rider chairs to take to outdoor events.  After a few weeks of searching we found what we think are just perfect.  Petty Thief, tribute Tom Petty band, was playing last night.  We really enjoyed ourselves because we knew most of the songs and could sing along.  We had our chairs, wine, cheese and subway sandwiches.  We were set for the evening.  Look forward to our next date....

CCPC Friendship Club

There is a group of people that get together throughout the year for fellowship and to support our church in various mission outreaches.  This is outside of our Small Group and Sunday School class.  It's a delightful group of people.  One of our annual events is "He Cooks She Eats".  Sara and Tom have graciously hosted this event each year and it has become a very popular evening with the women.  Tom is a hunter and provides us with dove and then they are stuffed with jalapenos and bacon wrapped as well as some very hot sausage....yum!  And that is just for the appetizers.  For our main entry, he smokes brisket and chicken.  The other host for the evening bring the side dishes.  There is more food than you can imagine.
The ladies are inside enjoying the cool AC.

YUM....
The guys are outside enjoying I don't know what????  It was kinda warm that evening.

Tom and Sara had purchased this tent cover.  It was pretty comical to watch all the men either helping to dismantle it or supervise it being done.
