Cursillo Weekend Prep

Hal and I are staffing the upcoming Cursillo NTPC# 28 weekend (3/4 through 3/7). Cursillo was a huge blessing to Hal and me as we began our life together. You can learn more about a Cursillo weekend here NTPCURSILLO.ORG. We had just returned home from skiing and starting some of the pre work for the weekend. Kitty felt the need to be part of it.

Day 7, Coming home from WP, CO 2010

When we arrived at DFW our driver was waiting on us, thank you Kat and Jerry Sanders for picking us up!
The week in WP is special for many reasons. For me, the beautiful vistas of Gods creations, breathing the mountain air and time away from the ever day grind always puts life in perspective for me.  I never realize how much I needed it until I return.

Day 6, in WP CO 2010

On our last day in WP, we decided to go to a place that was “family” friendly, not that WP isn’t, but the slopes at SolVista Basin are a nice break after a week of downhill, un-groomed, powdered slopes. Our knees and thighs were shot. You could fly down the slopes at SolVista and it was pure fun. The O’Flaherty’s are members and got us a good deal on lift tickets, thank you!
Cute Snow Bunnies.....

A wonderful way to end a great week!

Day 5 In WP, CO 2010

We woke up Thursday to beautiful snow.  WP got over 17" of snow while we were there.  Because of all the new powder, I had a difficult time skiing.  I was bushed at the end of the day, but another good day.  The only good fall was when John was kind enough to stop and help me up after I took a fall and I brought him down with me. We slid down the mountain together laughing, great times.

Day 4, in WP, CO 2010

Today was our day off from skiing. It was the perfect day as it snowed all day long. We lazily got up and went for breakfast at one of our favorites places, Carver’s. Spent the afternoon getting caught up on emails, blogging and Cursillo stuff.

Day 3 in WP, CO 2010

Mollie and Patrick, friends of Chris & Susan, drove up from Denver to joined us for the day. They are both exceptional skiers and so much fun to be with.
After Katie finished ski school for the day, she skied a run with us.
We ended the day with a fabulous dinner at Alberto’s. We had big plans of playing train but by the time we got back to the condo we were all stuff and bushed from the day. Watched the Olympics which I just love.

Day 2, in WP, CO 2010

Monday was another beautiful day of skiing. The sun was out and the snow was good. We met up with Chris and Susan for lunch.

Breath taking views
All bundled up (me, Hal, John, Chris & Susan OTN

Day 1 in WP, CO 2010

Hal and I getting ready for the day....

For Valentine’s Day night Susan (OTN) prepared fondue. It was a progressive dinner, starting with bread & veggies then moved to shrimp, steak & sausage and ended with dessert of pound cake, strawberries, bannans all wtih chocolate. Makes me want to buy a fondue pot. It was delicious. Christi and Eddie Pena (friends of Chris & Susan) were there with their kids. It was an active place and full of energy.
A very nice way to celebrate Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

What a joy to spend each Valentine’s Day and my birthday in Winter Park, CO. I get birthday calls and text msgs while on the mountain. There was a small delay getting to the mountain this year. We were at a standstill on Hwy 40 for 1 ½ hours due to an accident. People were getting out of their cars to walk their dogs, talk with other people along the way and other things. For as far as the eye could see, cars were park.

We arrived safely to the condo and thankful. Upon our arrival, John and Hal had a surprise for Susan and me, beautiful red roses….so thoughtful and sweet. We quickly forgot about the 1 ½ hour delay and that we were starving.

It's Snowing and Very Beautiful

We woke up this morning to a beautiful winter wonderland and it has not stopped snowing all day.
Just beautiful!

The weather forecast is for snow to continue for the next several hours....and then freeze.
