Surgery, Family & Friends

Two weeks ago Wednesday I went in for Day Surgery (23 hours) for a hysterectomy.  I have put this procedure off for over a year and half and had to "swallow the frog" as my dad would say.  Thankfully I have some wonderful family and friends to help me through the event and the recovery days.  Wednesday morning at 8:15 am.  Looking relaxed (not really) and ready.  Dad and my brother, Craig, came by to send me on my way.  I am so thankful they came.  Their visit helped the waiting period to pass quickly.  I had all my prayer warriors lined up including the nurses and my doctor.
Here I am in my room around 4:00 pm.  Elysse and Anna came with flowers in hand.  Later in the evening Susan and John came to visit and so sweet of them to take Hal out for dinner.  He had had about as much of daytime TV as he could take!  Look how close the morphine drip is to me......
The hospital released me around noon on Thursday.  I was ready to be home. We joke about my $20K water cup and plastic bracelets.
The one thing I did not realize was that I still had quite a bit of morphine left in my system.  When I got home I felt great!  I did a little bit of this and that.  Around 8:00 that evening I could feel every bit of this and that.  Hal found me the next morning in a chair in the living room with pillows on top, on bottom, and all sides of me.  I decided then to take the doctors and others advice and take it easy for the next 2 weeks.  Fortunatly the heat has helped to keep me inside and the Olympics are on TV.
I received so many beautiful flowers arrangements.  It looked and smelled like a florist.  I felt very special. Keith and Elysse brought Anna by for a short visit.  They also gave me an Apple gift card!   I now know how to order movies on my own....scary.
Anna is getting big enough to climb into her chair.  She's working on getting out.
She loves the stairs.  Grandpa got to chase her up and down this time around.
I am very thankful for all the love, flowers, food and visit from all the family and friends.

Thank you.....I am blessed!
